What's Happening?
Sharing Our Journeys: Have you ever wished you knew more about the folks you worship with? During the Season of Epiphany we will offer the opportunity to get to know one another more deeply through “Sharing our Journeys” small groups. Each group will be composed of up to six folks, preferably folks you do not already know well. Each group will meet weekly for 90 minutes, with each person in the group having the opportunity to share the story of their life’s journey. Sign-up sheets are located in the parish hall or email Karen at kclaybarfield@gmail.com.
Catechesis: A Short Course on The Episcopal Church’s Faith and Practices
Dave Belcher, our catechist, will lead us in conversations about:
*the liturgical year/calendar
*prayer
*Christian initiation/baptism

*liturgical actions and objects
*structure/governance/polity of The Episcopal Church
*Holy Eucharist
Classes will be held Sunday mornings 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. in the Classroom in the Parish Hall beginning Sunday, February 26th through Sunday, April 15th (excepting Easter Sunday, April 8th). All those who wish to be confirmed or received into The Episcopal Church or those who wish to reaffirm their baptismal vows should attend. Everyone is welcome to join, wherever you find yourself on your faith journey. Living Water: Baptism as a Way of Life
Come join us Sundays 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. in the Classroom in the Parish Hall for a hands-on experience of Living Water. Eight sessions, beginning Sunday, February 26th (excepting Easter Sunday, April 8) will focus repeatedly on water, first as a natural element necessary to life, then as a symbolic element necessary to spirituality. Through the use of prayer, song, scripture, silence, poetry, visual arts, storytelling, group discussion and personal reflection, the focus is refined further, and water – as baptismal element – gains ascendancy in the lives of participants. No longer mere, occasional refreshment, Living Water inundates, becomes life’s very medium.
Living Water is designed for catechumens but is intended for use by all Christians – those who are many years into their journeys as well as those who are just beginning. All are welcome! If you are interested in baptism, please contact Karen.
If you have questions, please contact Karen Barfield (kclaybarfield@gmail.com) or Dave Belcher (j.david.belcher@gmail.com).
Bible/Book Study News: Our recent study on the Psalms of Creation led by Jodi Belcher has now concluded. Stay tuned for information on our next study series!
Sermons: Selected sermons can now be found here.
Life's essentials: Imagine not being able to obtain everyday essentials that most of us take for granted. On the first Sunday of every month we collect simple items such as toilet tissue, diapers (sizes 4 and 5) and toiletries (toothpaste and toothbrushes, etc). Please help us help Durham Urban Ministries to make life a little more comfortable for those struggling to provide these basics for their families.
